Employer: Catapult Systems
Project Type: Custom Application
Project Description: For this project I worked as a UX Consultant, working closely with the Texas Department of State Health Services to create a system to manage client accounts, applications and services provided for patients receiving state funded medical assistance. The DSHS maintains multiple assistance programs and was hoping to consolidate four of their programs and their outdated systems into one streamlined system to reduce training time, call center requests and reduce costs.
My responsibilities on this project included a heuristic evaluation of the 3 existing systems, interviews and persona development, wireframes and creation of the final design. The heuristic evaluation included a 2 day on-site with the head of the assistance program at the DSHS to walk me through their systems to protect their patients private information. I then conducted a total of 12 interviews, interviewing 3 users from each program, to get a wide variety of responses to then be able to create an informed persona for each program. As I created the wireframes and final designs, I worked closely with the DSHS to make sure I was creating a system to meet the needs of all of the users while incorporating the requirements of all 4 programs.
Project Challenges: I encountered three main challenges while working on this project, consolidating the multiple systems with different program needs into one, working within the limitations of the technology they were using to build the system, and a very tight 80 hour time frame. Completing this project given all those constraints made this one of the most rewarding projects I have worked on.
